The training begins 5/9/10

So here I am ready to face the unknown. 500 miles with only what I can carry. The mental preparation is the most important I believe. I will be traveling with my two good friends Carl and John. They will be able document my hike and verify the unsupported. I do not plan to break any records other than my own. Coming from where I did the thought of being able to complete something like this is a miracle. I will be blogging here about what I am doing for training and how I plan to attack the trail. It will be the bare minimum. If I get any followers I certainly would be open to suggestions. At this point my food list will consist of mostly dried foods and power bars. I believe I can do it under 2500 calories a day with about 20-25 lbs lost over the hike. I am currently 175 and need to gain another 10 lbs before the trip.

  1. So after some reading I have found out that unsupported means alone too. I can see that now, with having moral support. Support is support. I plan to still do it without assistance to train for my solo trip in August or September.
